The highly-awaited Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform soon, and fan speculation has been intense.
The first season presents a diverse group of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds accompanied by songs detailing their conflicts, and builds heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that drive audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season differ greatly, but certain themes emerge over and over: Will a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the showrunner commented recently. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how quickly season 2 moves, and how much of what they're waiting for happens now.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — particularly in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people create a bingo card about the new season," she says. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on October 29.
