Major Russian Attacks Eliminate Electricity Across Kyiv

Power facilities under attack in the region
The country's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were wounded while inhabitants in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and faced disruption to water supplies, per reports from local authorities.

At the same time, a minor was killed in a different aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, based on information from local officials.

Moscow has increased attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from international partners to apply pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the United States, European nations and the G7 - in delivering air defence systems and applying penalties," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty projectiles targeted energy facilities, characterizing such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles hit power facilities and residential structures in Kyiv.

Several of the people wounded in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by city authorities.

Regional authorities said the city endured heavy assaults overnight. A seven-year-old child was killed and three other people were wounded.

The attacks come after periods of air raids in the area, portions of which are occupied by Russian forces.

The entire country is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to detect.

National leaders told the media that Moscow was deliberately attempting to destroy the country's energy grid, with strikes already affecting energy systems.

Officials stated technical personnel and officials were preparing for more assaults.
