A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

The assault resulted in the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later released.

Police detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several people injured by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
